Cigars Habana
Cohiba
Cohiba cigars were created in 1966 as Havana’s premier brand for diplomatic use only.Since 1982 they were offered to the public in three sizes: Lanceros,Coronas,Esplendidos and Panetelas,in 1989 three more sizes were added to complete La Linea Classica namely : Explendidos,Robustos,and Exquisitos.In 1992 the following five sizes of la Linea 1492 were made in order to commemorate the 500 th anniversary of the discovery of Cuba : Siglo I II III IV V.
They are known for its high quality as well as being Fidel Castro’s personal favorite.
Fonseca
The image of Francisco Fonseca,who opened his factory in 1891 and trademarked ”La Flor Fonseca” in 1914,still adorns the box today.Fonseca is credited with being the first to market cigars stored in metal tubes.Only in limited distribution,the Fonseca brand is considered to exhibit a rich but mild flavor.
The Fonsecas can always be spotted across the humidor because each cigar is wrapped in a distinctive “silk wrap”tissue.
Hoyo de Monterey
Hoyo de Monterey cigar brand was established by Jose Gener in 1865.The names means “ valley of Monterrey” after tobacco plantation in Vueleta Abajo renowned for it’s fertile soil.They are highly regarded for their delicate flavor and rich taste.
Montecristo
Montecristo cigars were launched in 1935 by de H.Upmann factory,as a tribute to the Count of Monte Cristo,the cigar smoking hero of Alexandre Dumas’s norvel.
Montecristo first appeared in just five sizes: No. I II III IV V. Size V and speciales were added in the beginning of 1970’s.They are generally milder than Cohiba and have a characteristic aroma,created by storing leaves in a special type of cedar wood box.
Romeo and Julieta
Romeo and Julieta cigars are probably the best known cigar brand with huge range of shapes and sizes(40).Founded by Alvarez Y Gracia in 1875 and then in 1903 they were purchased by :Pepin” Fernandez Rodriguez who is responsible for making Romeo y Julieta the celebrated brand it is today.
Trinidad
Trinidad cigars have been produced in the same factory as Cohiba since 1969.They were not introduced to the international market until 1998,having been reserved for official use by the Cuban government until then.
Trinidad cigars are made from the best tobacco that Vuelta Abajo has to offer. Featuring a dark wrapper and a rich,earthy flavor,these cigars are recommended as after-dinner smokes.
Partagas
Pertagas cigars were found by Don Jaime Partagas who began manufacturing cigars in 1827 and put his own name on the brand in 1845.
After his death the brand passed to Ramon Cifuentes in 1889 and was owned by Cifuentes y Cia.This cigars are full-bodied and rich.The flavor becomes more pronounced with the higher gauges.
Quintero
Quintero cigars were introduced by Austin Quintero and his brothers they start with tobacco in their hometown of Cienfuegos in the Las Villas province of Cuba in the 1920’s.
In 1940 they created this full-flavoured brand which continues today,primarily in machine-bunched/hand-finished and all machine-made sizes.
