Transalpina road_en

On 30 km long, you experience adventure, mystery and some rare sightseeing. Those who have been on Transfagarasan, will be even more excited. Those who have not, should go on both of them.
Built during World War 2, by military reasons, Transalpina was less used throughout time. About its maintenance, it is useless to talk. Nowadays the highway is asphalted 25%.

On the map it is called DN 67C. It connects Novaci and Sebes, and along the way, the sightseeing you enjoy is over 2000 meters high (Urdele Pass 2145m).
About the car you should use…definitely a car with higher soil guard.

Although it can be passed with a Dacia car ( old romanian traditional car ), preferably it would be a 4X4, especially due to the steeps inclinations from Urdele zone – where power horses would matter most.
The access is either from Novaci or Sebes, or Oltului Valley-Brezoi-Voineasa-Vidra-Obirsiile Lotrului (extremely picturesque road). Alternative would be by Petrosani-Obirsiile Lotrului. Accommodations are available on the road: at Vidra (3 hotels) or the cottage from Obarsiile Lotrului – at very convenient tariffs.
