Location/Climate/Access
 
Cheia is located in south-est of Romania, and it belongs to Maneciu Comune ( Prahova County), on the river Telejen, in Teleajean depression , al the slopes of Ciucas Mountains with an  altitude of 871 meters, at near 61km north of Ploiesti, the capital of Prahova County..
 
Climate is a temperate-continental one, with very long summers and cold winters, with an average of temperature 7 Celsius Grades. The air is extremely pure and ozonated because of the big and old forests, and due to this fact this area is one of the greenest in whole Europe. 
Access:
• DN1 Bucuresti - Ploiesti (75 km), then DN1A Ploiesti - Cheia (70 km) - Brasov;
• DN1A Brasov - Cheia (50 km);
• railway Bucuresti - Ploiesti, then Ploiesti - Maneciu, after that, the route continues alog the way Cheia - Brasov


Turistic potential
 
A calm and stylish resort placed at the bottom of Zaganu Mountain – Ciucas Massif. With an enviable tourist potential, this resort offers to a traveler innumerable possibilities of relaxation and relief – from hiking to spiritual relaxation.
The subalpine climate, with fresh air and chilly summers (the average temperature is 16 degrees Celsius in summer), is recommended for those who suffer from asthma or physical and intellectual tiredness.
The town has developed around the Cheia Monastery, built in 1835 and 1839, by two shepherds from Silistea Sibiului, who had sold their flock of sheep and became monks, one of them becoming an abbot.The town has developed especially after 1840, when the road to Brasov was built, through Bratocea passage.
