Last week we had some guests and we wanted to taste something special, so we decided to have an oriental feast.
The oriental spirit and cuisine is best mirrored in one of the most authentic restaurants in Bucharest with specifically Lebanese, Persian, Syrian, Iraqi and Turkish food. We know that Ali Baba and his gang were great gourmets, who found a nice refuge in the menu of this place.

“Ali Baba” - opened at the end of 2008, this location is built with specific architectural elements: oval arches, contrasting colours, manual painting on the walls, intertwining ornaments that catch your eye due to the meticulosity of the execution, frescos portraying scenes from Ali Baba’s legend. The access code to the treasure is not “Open Sesame!”, but Mihai Bravu 123. It’s very close to the Labour Square, with convenient prices and a renowned cook.

The restaurant offers a personalized setting which is adjusted to the oriental spirit through numerous lamps, narghiles, lampshades, statuettes, chests, interior plants and curtains behind whose fringes you can escape the grey outside and step into the story of Ali Baba.

The menu puts into the foreground the concoctions that made the Persian, Lebanese and Turkish cuisines famous - a variety of snacks, salads, sweets, vegetable and meat concoctions. Aubergines variously cooked, humus, gumbos, chick pea, lentil, nuts, rice, spices, luring sauces, juicy meat.

The prices are convenient and the environment is much warmer due to the setting and heed paid to serving. The master cook Khaled Kalfat deserves all the praises I have heard about him.A party organized at Ali-Baba in an oriental setting would have a special appeal. Call for details!
