“Habibi” – an excellent Lebanese restaurant in downtown Bucharest, with a renowned chief cook with over 20 year career in restaurants in Lebanon, Syria, Italy and Romania. “Habibi”, which means “Iubitul meu”, has a professed Lebanese specificity, but it is extremely westernized in other respects (the design, a variety of spirits at the bar, etc.)
The high ceiling architecture of the building located on 98, Vasile Lascar (near Galati (Gemeni) square) is unprecedented for an oriental restaurant. The pub, opened in April 2008, is full of light, with discreet Arab accents through the objects in the setting. The tables are arranged to a hair’s breath, in a noble atmosphere, and the restaurant’s team obligatorily provides details regarding the secrets of the Lebanese products.
The Lebanese cuisine is one of the most appreciated, prized and tastiest cuisines. It has tens of snacks, is based on Mediterranean influences, has a balanced mixture of vegetables and meat and a vegetarian specificity, which also makes her healthy.
The food is full of colour, rich in spices and odours…And the Lebanese food made by the master cook Ahmad Choubak is just rabid, thrilling and expressive. With an over 20 year gastronomic career, Ahmad Choubak has unique ingredients for every type of food. Special flavours such as rose essence for dessert.
The “Habibi” restaurant attaches great importance to the fish concoctions. Besides, it is the only Lebanese restaurant with fresh fish kept in ice into a special glass case (we took pictures of it; you can find them in the photo gallery).
As for attractions, “Habibi” lures you with narghiles and hell Arab coffee (with cardamom flavour, a spice which is in truth named the Seed of Love). You will certainly notice the bar full of fruits, with the pomegranates faithfully expressing the essence of the oriental spirit… The dessert which delighted us was a combination of bananas, skin of milk, apples and pistachio. A real delight for the papillae.
It’s good that “Habibi” provides catering services as well. We also order food for the office or for home, anytime we are longing for new gastronomic horizons. The restaurant lends itself to an event which is going to be more special due to the menu and the location.
