 When you say “Caribe” your thoughts are bathed in endless turquoise waters of leisure and pleasant slackness. Cafe Caribe, a pub in Decebal area which has been operating since September 2008 in the place of Smoking Café club, has been born out of the idea of exotic place, conceived for relaxation. Bahama mama! Not to mention the catering services in Decebal, Alba Iulia, Piata Muncii, Dristor areas (with free transportation).
Cafe Caribe does not enter the pattern of the ordinary café fittings. The design used here is a fusion design with the integration of the exotic and modern elements on a classical basis. In an inspired manner, Caribe has chosen crystal pendants and trendy square chandeliers for a welcome note of elegance. In the evening, the large glasses provide a nice view to the lights on the avenue.
The interior (40 seats at the tables plus 36 seats on the terrace - in the summer) is teeming with tropical landscapes (photo wallpapers placed under the tables’ glass) in an intelligent manner. There are also ship models and bowls with candles in tune with the landscapes with palm-trees and fine sand. The colour palette sticks between shades of light bleu, grey, silvery and relaxing tones.
Subliminally you are contaminated with exotic holidays’ images and you are in the mood for leaving, for something good and refined. The estaminet-type cuisine lures you with Italian concoctions, which are a little more special, the offer being different from other pubs with the same trait. The menu was divided into toasts, antipasti, salads, pasta, dessert plus a wide range of various drinks.
We recommend the delicious “Posciutto crudo con pomodorii secchi” (which contains salad rocket, dried tomatoes, parmesan, garlic, olives, and oil). You should also try a “Cobb Salad” with iceberg salad, boiled egg, bacon, chicken breast, avocado, blue cheese and tomatoes.
Don’t miss a portion of “Spaghetti con Gamberi” with shrimp and spicy tomato sauce. For dessert we have chosen a “Melon Glace” (melon, superfine ice-cream, whipped cream and topping at one’s discretion). The more pretentious customer has premium wines, such as Brunello di Montalcino, Opus I, Don Perignon, and wines for special occasions at his disposal; you will discover all these only if you come to Caribe.
Speaking of special occasions, “Caribe” has service packages for name-day parties, private parties and coming of age parties for up to 40 guests. The staff has a good command of English, is discreet and has a good speed of response, “Cafe Caribe” being also preferred for business lunches. Budha Bar, Chill-out by day and house, R&B, latino in the evening, but the volume and the sound effects don’t disturb the discussions from the tables. As a technique of ensuring the customer’s loyalty, you can benefit from a 10 % discount if you come to “Caribe” more often.
To conclude, Decebal no. 4 is an interesting place due to the ambience but also to the menu comprising original concoctions. Palm-trees, hammocks… Caribbean! “Caribe” is a good place “to run aground” for a nice evening. That’s for sure!
