Wandering through the sparkling and diverse world of the cafes and clubs in the capital, something out the ordinary can only bring you joy. Beyond the provocatively sweet and coloured sign board, Lolly Pop Lounge & Café on no. 13, Decebal Street (officially inaugurated on the 1st of March 2009) is a lounge & café three in one: a mixture between café-lounge-estaminet / food & bar.
A trendy formula of glamorous pub for those who want three different experiences at the same address, in a setting which I invite you to admire on the scene. Because the descriptions, no matter how skillfully made, cannot compete with a visit to Lolly Pop.
The pub is located on two levels, in a space of over 200 square meters and a 100% original design with pop-art pattern. The key-words are the interplays with geometrical figures, stripes, circles, templates, lamp-shade made of shinning disks.
In short: a dynamic space, with interplays of volume upright and invigorating chromatics in light green, cream, white with dark red shades meant to break the monotony.
The acronym Lolly Popp was used to decorate the bar: a stylized “p” which nicely integrates itself within the landscape. Several plants and the candles are two other elements which bring some extra heat. The radiant surfaces, the shiny asymmetrical geometrical figures prevail. The café concert & Buddha bar can be heard in an undertone by day. The evenings are reserved for house, mixes and clubbing music.
Smoking is forbidden downstairs, while the upper floor is for the smokers. This idea is better than the division of a single space in areas for smokers and non-smokers. “Lolly Pop Cafe”, a three-colour coffee drink to which you add crisp almond and a “secret” ingredient, showed up on our table.
Tasty, creamy, with a fine flavour. “DUO” chocolate, namely a white and black chocolate foam, is another drink which you can attack in order to start the evening at Lolly Pop.
We identified over 17 kinds of tea with various flavours and numerous variants of freshly squeezed pineapple, melon, pear, apple, carrot, orange, and grapefruit juices, just to mention a few. They also serve Illy – one of the best types of coffee. The Lolly Pop desserts are made in a laboratory of specialist confectioners who use Belgian chocolate.
By the way, according to the staff, the cooking is Italian or à la français, with super premium ingredients and we saw it with our own eyes after we had ordered royal “Jumbo Prawns” and “Steak Baguette” shrimps.
The menu is conceived starting from the following categories: breakfast, salads, vegetarian food, sandwiches, pasta, soup, pizza and the main dishes. If you liked it you can order it for home as well, “Lolly Pop food & bar” ensuring “take away” service.
The Lolly Pop team has a single slogan: “the details make the difference”. You can notice this in the faultless service of the staff and in his capacity of anticipating the needs of the customers present in the pub. This is applicable to the cooks as well.
Their experience has a solid background built in several years in five-star locations and cruising ships. Being an expat-friendly place, the staff has a good command of English or French and manages to be useful and pleasing. In order to win your fidelity Lolly Pop offers fidelity cards and happy hours for mornings in coffee flavours.
