At nightfall you can hear Piano caffe, some other day we have stand-up comedy and for the third evening the agenda is ticked off with “only women” programme.
Driven by the cult of coffee, we landed in another place where coffee is prized and capitalized. It is an all inclusive café. There is nothing lacking here and the offer is beyond expectation both in terms of menu and entertainment.
With an ultra-central position, Illusion Café is located on no. 19 Bibescu Voda, where you can arrive after about two minutes of easy walking from the fountains of Piata Unirii. Because of its somehow isolated location it is preferred by many public persons. It is normal to have pretences and to wish for a special café in a special setting.
The entire furniture plays with white, black and violet, which are powerful and weighty colours. When it’s warm outside, the windows are removed and the aestival variant of the café, a terrace with ambient, pop, international, soul, R&B music, steps into the picture.
Illusion Café has been present in this setting since January 2008, starting from the idea of stimulant of the most popular drink in the world. The seductive drink from the morning cup is able to link people, to create illusions and thrilling stories, to chase away the tiredness, reinvigorating the body and soul.
And since things are going well at Illusion Café the extension and the building of a new Illusion brand is taken into account.
They use premium toppings and desserts from “chocolat”, and the brand “Illy” – which is certainly a star among the coffee assortments – was designated the coffee of the house. The cuisine of a café doesn’t compete with that of a restaurant, but the tendency is to ensure a range of drinks and food as wide as possible. Illusion has a snack plus drinks for any hour of the day, from varieties based on coffee to Pepsi and Cola. From Quesadillias Mexicana with smoke-dried salmon to Sandwich with ham of Parma and mozzarella. We can also treat ourselves to salads, pasta, grills, fresh concoctions and chocolate specialties.
The specialty of the house is a coffee which borrows and represents the atmosphere of the place: Illusion Café has a proper combination of espresso, milk, bayley’s, ice-cream, whipped cream and chocolate flakes. You take out of your pocket 15 RON for it.
Who doesn’t like Amore? We give a positive answer anytime for this refined liquid which contains espresso, amaretto di saronno, vanilla syrup, whipped cream, chocolate flakes. We include Brunello di Montalcino or Chianti Clasico Riserva Dolce in the must-have list for a romantic evening at Illusion Café. Hunger can hover about you when you don’t expect.
Our recommendation is to direct your attention to Farfale with salmon (farfale, salmon fume, sweet pepper, tomatoes, mustard, Parmesan, sour cream) and Quesadillias Mexicana with smoke-dried salmon (Lebanese flat-bread, smoke-dried salmon, hard cheese, hard cheese cream, tomatoes, pickled hot pepper, parsley, ranchero sauce).
